Hello, and welcome!
I’m so glad you’ve found your way to the blog. My name is Jennifer, and I’m the founder and Registered Psychotherapist here at Therapy Across Seasons, offering culturally sensitive therapy in Ontario for BIPOC adults.
I’m passionate about helping clients build emotional clarity, develop self-trust, and heal relationships while feeling understood and supported in the context of their cultural background.
In this blog, I’ll share a bit about who I am, the community we serve, and why this might be the right place to begin your journey toward emotional safety and confidence.
Who I Am: A Little About Me and Why I’m Here
So, who am I? I’m a Canadian-Salvadorian Psychotherapist who grew up in Toronto, Ontario! Like many of you, I know what it’s like to handle family pressures, ride emotional ups and downs, and navigate the tricky expectations that come with your culture.
I’ve been there, trying to trust myself, unsure which path to choose, and caught in repeating patterns that no longer serve me. My own struggles, along with those I’ve witnessed in my career, inspired me to create Therapy Across Seasons, a space designed to really understand the rich, sometimes overwhelming experience of being a BIPOC in Canada.
Growing up in a vibrant, multicultural city and working there has shown me that many BIPOC and first-generation kids often feel caught between loving their family’s values and wanting to express their individuality. We sometimes wonder if saying no seems selfish or if stepping outside cultural norms makes us inconsiderate.
Having gone through my own healing journey, navigating family relationships and battling self-doubt, I truly understand how important it is to feel heard, validated, and supported. In my approach to therapy, I focus on helping you trust yourself more, release the roles and stories that no longer fit, and find empowerment to make choices that feel right for you today.
Who We Serve: Understanding Our Ideal Clients
I work with high-achieving BIPOC individuals who are trying to navigate their relationships, emotional burdens, and family struggles. Many are doing all the things to make everyone feel taken care of, but are still riddled with anxiety.
They might be the dependable, reliable daughter who is worried she’ll end up alone because “she’s too much.”
If you’re feeling torn between your family’s expectations and your own needs, having difficulty trusting yourself, or struggling with decision-making, I can support you in finding clarity and building confidence.

Our Therapeutic Approach – Culturally Sensitive Therapy Ontario
I pull from various therapy models because I understand that everyone is unique. We all have different needs, learn in different ways, and require support that’s tailored to our particular life stages. Here are some important aspects of what you can expect when doing therapy with me.
Curiosity
We begin with curiosity, exploring your emotions, patterns, and reactions without rushing to label them as “good” or “bad.” This creates space to understand what’s really going on instead of criticizing yourself for how you feel.
Family Systems
Our families shape so much of who we are, often in ways we don’t realize. By understanding your role within your family, we can start to untangle patterns that leave you stuck, resentful, or disconnected, and build healthier dynamics both with others and yourself.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Culture shapes how we see relationships, express emotions, and set boundaries. We’ll look at how your cultural background, family expectations, and societal pressures have influenced you and how to honour your roots while still living in alignment with your needs.
Attachment- Informed Work
The way we connect in relationships is often influenced by our earliest bonds. Exploring your attachment style can help you feel more secure in relationships, trust more fully, and communicate more openly without fear of rejection or being “too much.”
Trauma-Informed Therapy
We’ll work at a pace that feels safe for you. This means creating space for you to explore difficult experiences without pressure, building emotional safety first, and focusing on resilience and self-compassion.
Seasonal Approach
Life has seasons, times when things feel heavy and stagnant, and times when growth feels possible again. We’ll identify where you are now and find the tools you need for this part of your journey.
A Continuum, Not a Linear Line
Healing is not one-size-fits-all. The idea of a linear path can often feel like a burden. Instead, we embrace the ebb and flow of your emotional journey.

Why Consider Therapy Across Seasons?
What makes us unique is the commitment to creating a space where you can bring everything that has shaped you, without judgment, cultural guilt, or forced solutions.
I believe in the power of compassion and curiosity over guilt and shame.
Every step we take is aimed at empowering you to make intentional choices that align with your values and true self.
Clients often begin therapy realizing why certain habits formed, learning to replace harsh self-talk with compassion, and noticing how this shifts how they connect and communicate with others.
